My ex’s best friend’s mother was killed today. She was driving when she had a heart attack and was killed in a car accident. I was so saddened by this news. Moments like these make me stop and realize what’s really important. I called my father today to tell him I loved him, and I was overtaken by emotion. The idea of losing my father without saying how much I loved him was devastating. Not just my father, but my mom, my sister, my friends with whom I’ve created relationships, my ex’s, my business partner…the list continues. Sometimes I get so caught up in… ME that I forget to tell people how important they are. Life is something that is so precious and it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
On Sunday, I was doing an open house and a gentleman came into my open house and said “I was going to buy this house for my son so he could be close to me, but he died last Thursday. This house is now for sale, and my son is gone.” He started to cry if front of a perfect stranger. I was so moved by his raw emotion. I guess this is the universe’s way of saying to me, slow down, and focus on what’s important. Just thought I would share this experience to remind you to tell those in your life that you love them.

I am so sorry to hear that, Felipe.. True that we should say “I luv U” more often and unconditionally..

To me, those unplanned moments of emotion, whether happy or sad, are the real jewels of life. Life is going to consist of ups and downs, exciting days and boring days, good things and bad. Unlike some contrived reality show, true emotion is rarely planned. That’s when you know that it really means something.
You may have heard of “mindful eating” as a weight loss method. I think we should all subscribe to “mindful living,” which would mean living with purpose and not taking our loved ones for granted.

Melissa, I couldn’t agree with you more. Living with purpose is something that people have to be conscious of. So many times we drift without any intention of what we want. It’s amazing how much clearer your life can become with a little thought and intention behind your actions.
